What's going on in the world?

Today's youth needs to become more concerned with whats going on in the world. I feel that if we are getting behind in learning our history and taking a stand on certain issues. We are to caught up in this technology era and  we are letting important information fly by. I notice that as we sit in our English class, our teacher asks us, "what's going on in the world"? And unfortunately, only a few people answer. It is many things going on that we need to know about. There could be a new law that comes out that makes all people between the ages of 13-19 wear only pants or something crazy like that and they put a punishment on the law that makes it mandatory. And the bad thing about that is, many people will get the punishment of that law for lack of knowledge of reading that newspaper or watching a little news. But, in most situations that are a big issue, then people will find out those things through word of mouth. My point is that we need to inform ourselves on whats happening in the world today. We have learned that from the past three speakers we have had in a wonderful English class.

  1. Right on and write on. As smart students with access to higher education, we all have the privilege of exposing ourselves to life outside of our bubbles. I wish I could guarantee you that a diploma will bring success in life, but it will not. How we choose to engage ourselves in the world around us will.

  2. I do agree with you on this. I am sad to say, but I am one of them people who do not know what is goin on in the world today. I could watch tv all day long, but cannot find myself watching some boring news. I would rather be happy with watching my fake show, than be sad watching the news.

  3. I also agree with this. In our society today the kids of our generation can get too caught up in technology and become inactive with what is happening around us. Im probally part of the problem as well so that is why i try to make an effort to keep myself updated with my city. Either by watching the news or just reading the newspaper.
